My name is Mark Apel. Our daughter has been enrolled in the children’s program at Imazaki Dojo since she was 4 years old. Imazaki Dojo has been tremendously beneficial to our daughter in several ways.
First, and most importantly in my opinion, it provides a highly structured and dedicated environment for our daughter to work on and improve upon, among other things, her focus, her character, and her physical fitness with her peers. These basic pillars of well-adjusted and well-rounded children are also pillars of Imazaki Dojo’s children’s program. The focus of the children’s program is to provide a well-rounded curriculum, centered on personal growth, physical AND mental. Without this more comprehensive focus, the kids would just be learning punches and kicks.
Secondly, my daughter is gradually gaining the necessary skills, and accompanying confidence, to protect herself and others if the need ever arises. As a father, I feel immense comfort knowing, not only that this process has started and is steadily progressing, but that it is being administered by such a highly qualified and dedicated staff.
Lastly, Imazaki Dojo provides a challenging, stimulating, and enjoyable activity for my child. Not once in 2 years have I had to battle with her to go to karate class. She eagerly awaits her bi-weekly interaction with her instructors and fellow students. Her enthusiasm can be directly attributed to the adept ability of the instructors to connect with the children. It is clear that Imazaki Dojo excels at being able to capture a child’s attention and keep them entertained, motivated & involved. This aspect of Imazaki Dojo makes them truly unique. To be able to captivate and successfully command the minds of so many young children, all while teaching them such valuable, real-world skills is, in my experience, very rare.
Imazaki Dojo has been a blessing to our family. Not only does it provide an environment for personal growth for the children, but it also allows for the parents to participate in that growth as well. The opportunity for the entire family to learn about and improve on so many facets of themselves is invaluable. Sensei Seijo & Sensei Joy are truly experts in their chosen field. Based upon the progress I have witnessed, I am convinced that once our child is grown, we will be able to trace back a large part of her success as an individual to the time she spent training at Imazaki Dojo.
"My name is Ayka. We started karate classes because my son Sayid wanted to become a "ninja". That’s how we discovered Imazaki Dojo. He has been practicing karate for 2 years now and we are very happy with his progress and our overall experience. I think Sensei Seijo really takes time to get to know kids and teaches from his heart which I think is very important. He pays attention to each student, corrects their form and calls them out when necessary. He teaches kids to be confident, compassionate, focused and shares little experiences from his life. I can tell Sayid looks up to him a lot.
We will be continuing our karate journey till Sayid gets a black belt. I recommend Imazaki Dojo to all of my friends and fellow parents."
Imazaki Dojo is truly special. Since joining the dojo in 2014, I found a place to learn self-defense, practice a fun yet extremely challenging art and skill, build self-confidence and discipline, and participate in the best cardio workouts imagineable. More importantly, though, I gained a family of friends and memories that will last a lifetime. If you're looking for more than just a gym and want to learn about yourself, then you've found the right place. There's nothing to lose, but pounds and self-doubt.
Imazaki Dojo is the place where the passion for martial arts, the sweat and pain that come with it make good home with responsible children care and adult sportive development.
For me, the dojo fills in an educational gap for my son, by bringing in rigor, competitiveness, and even a certain level of roughness that I cannot offer at home.
Just as well, as I train alongside my son. It gives me a true opportunity to better bond with my son, while rekindling the all-too-human needs for competitiveness, fighting and self-improvement that I thought I lost in my youth.
Finally, as both Sensei Seijo and Sensei Joy have an uncanny social sense which they employ in managing our community, the dojo is my extended family.
