At Imazaki Dojo, we consider it an incredible honor that we’ve been enlisted to train you and/or your child in Karate. We take a holistic approach to Karate. We believe in the martial way and Karate encompasses so much more than what one learns on the mat. Our goal is to help build leaders on and off the mat. We not only strengthen our body but also our mind. Compassion, confidence, focus and self-awareness are among the few things our program is designed to nurture.
Our job does not end when the students step off the mat. We team up with students and parents of students to make sure that the principles of Karate are being followed outside of the Dojo, as well. We are here to reinforce the family unit. To be a black belt in the Dojo, one must be a black belt in all aspects of their life.
Our team cares greatly about each and every student we have. Our goal is to create an environment at the Dojo which inspires children and adults to strive to be the best version of themselves, on and off the mat. We love to see our students confidence blossom.
Our Kids Karate Program is a dynamic way to learn Karate. Through strict discipline on the mat, the children learn not only Karate but respect and focus. Dojo etiquette is taken seriously. We encourage all families to go over the Dojo etiquette on our website so we can teach the children by example.
“Little Ninja’s in Training” program (4 years) is designed to develop your child’s motor skills, balance and coordination through fun and challenging activities. Your child will also learn the fundamentals of karate and learn a bit of Japanese along the way. We believe the “Little Ninja’s in Training” learn best through play. So we focus a portion of the class on obstacle courses, relay races and other exercises. Karate at any age will increase one’s confidence, focus and patience. Discipline and respect are also a huge component of our practice. We think your little one will enjoy training to be a Ninja!
Ninjas-in-Training (5 yo & up) is a continuation of the “Little Ninja’s in Training” program. At this age, the students are ready for more karate and less play. Your child will learn all the basic punches, kicks, blocks and kata, along with proper form. Games are still an integral part of this class, keeping the atmosphere fun and light, all while training their hearts out. We will teach discipline, respect and focus, which will give your child a strong sense of confidence. All of these skills will be seen as much outside of the dojo, as inside.
As the children advance, we change the curriculum to match the level of the children in the class. They start to learn and be accountable for fine details of each movement. We focus on learning more Kihon (basics), Kata (forms) and are introduced to Kumite (sparring). Students are expected to know the Dojo etiquette and are treated as leaders of the Dojo. Students are required to have sparring gear.
